Renegades: A Youthful Experience

SPOTLIGHT : Blake DuPriest

I went to try out for Renegades after I was cut from SCVC. The drum caption head told me about Renegades and highly recommended that I go for Renegades. So I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try out. During the auditions, I was starting to realize how big of a unit the corps was, not just in numbers but in family numbers! Ever since the first day I have enjoyed it. I really like being part of this big family corps and will continue to enjoy my career at Renegades.

Frankenhorn – the story of how a G-Tuba was created

Take two of these

(Kanstul Euphonium Bugle in G)

Ship them off to Dick Akright at A&G Music , and let his crew get a hold of them…

The end result….

     your very own G Tuba!

The person behind this?
Tony Clements (Principal Tubist for Symphony Silicon Valley and Director of Bands at Ohlone College) purchased two Kanstul G Euphoniums from the SF Renegades and had them converted to one G Tuba

Making An Impression on Youth

Hi Members of the Renegades,

I wanted to thank all of you for showing my young boy scouts what a horn line can sound like. Being from the city they have never seen a Drum & Bugle Corps before. I have been wanting to show them a corps live for some time, DVDs of DCI don’t really show it. What you did playing for them was great, something must have rubbed off on them. I know the best Corps didn’t place first. The “judges” must have scored heavy on “cute points” But you should feel good about getting young kids excited about Drum Corps. Good Luck to you and thanks again!

Sincerely,
John Miyoko
